'Pigs rally past Braves

Richmond, VA - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs beat the Richmond Braves 6-5 Friday at The Diamond. The IronPigs rallied for four runs in the seventh inning to take the first of a four game series.

The IronPigs took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Andy Tracy. Richmond jumped in front in the third on a two-run double by Barbaro Canizares. The Braves stretched their lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Chuck James. The IronPigs sent eight men to the plate in the seventh to move in front to stay. Brandon Watson doubled two runs home to tie the game. Mike Rouse chased a run home with a double to give the Pigs the lead. Mike Cervenak's RBI double capped the rally. The Braves picked up a run in the home half when Josh Anderson scored on an error. Watson singled a run home in the eighth to give Lehigh Valley a 6-4 lead. Brandon Jones knocked in a run with a fielder's choice in the ninth and advanced to second but was stranded there.

R.J. Swindle picked up the win. Vladimir Nunez took the loss. Matt Childers notched a save. James allowed just one run in six innings. Anderson had four hits for the Braves. Watson had four hits for the Iron Pigs.
