Phoenix Rising FC News Release
PHOENIX, Arizona - Phoenix Rising FC will open the 2021 USL Championship Regular Season in its new stadium at Wild Horse Pass, operating at 50% capacity, the club announced today.
"The safety of our fans, players and staff is our first priority," said Phoenix Rising General Manager Bobby Dulle. "We have been working with state and local officials to determine the optimal capacity at our new stadium now that the COVID-19 vaccine is becoming more prevalent. We felt limiting our capacity and maintaining the safety measures put into place last season allows us to keep our community safe as we move forward with our return to play."
Rising's home opener will double as the first match ever played in its new stadium at Wild Horse Pass on the Gila River Indian Community. That match, which is set to kick off at 7 p.m., will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN2.
Phoenix's newest stadium will include expanded seating surrounding the soccer field, additional on-field premium seating, new VIP suites and outdoor patio seating elevated along the east sideline, a new press box, a new double-sided video scoreboard and an expanded team merchandise store. Due to limited capacity, the game is nearly sold out. Prior to COVID-19, Rising had sold out 23-consecutive matches.
Rising will continue to monitor its seating-capacity policy and communicate any changes as the situation evolves. Rising will operate as a 100% mobile-ticket venue via the Rising Mobile App. Masks will be required at all times, except when eating or drinking.
Rising is also installing a clear-bag policy for the 2021 season. The club will provide hand-sanitizing stations throughout the venue and has added permanent bathrooms with increased capacity. Rising's new stadium at Wild Horse Pass will be a cashless venue. Fans will have the option to use their credit or debit cards, or exchange cash at a machine to load a card, if they wish to make purchases during the match.
