Phoenix Mercury Finalizes Training Camp Roster

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Mercury today announced the signings of guard Air Hearn and centers Bella Murekatete and Desi-Rae Young to training camp contracts, finalizing the 2024 training camp roster .
Hearn was a three-time All-American Athletic Conference selection at the University of Memphis (2012-16) where she ranks first in Tigers history in threes made and fourth in assists. The 5-8 guard just finished her third season with Athletes Unlimited (AU) Basketball, where she averaged 18.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 54.6% from the field, 43.3% from three and 91.7% from the free throw line.
Murekatete, a 6-3 center, averaged 10.1 points and 6.5 rebounds during her five-year collegiate career (2019-24) at Washington State. She ranks as the Cougar's all-time leader in rebounds, blocks, games played and is fifth in career points. A Rwanda native, Murekatete started for the Rwandan National Team in the 2021 FIBA Women's Basketball Afrobasket qualifier, helping lead the team to a third-place finish.
Young, a 6-1 center, finished her career at UNLV as one of only two players in program history to reach 2,000 career points and 1,000 rebounds and ranks second on the Lady Rebels' all-time scoring list. In 2023-24, she was one of four Division I players to average at least 17.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals. Young was a two-time Mountain West Player of the Year and earned four All-Conference Team, three All-Defensive Team and two All-Tournament Team selections.
The Mercury will open the 2024 season against the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Aces on May 14 in a nationally televised matchup on ESPN2. Phoenix tips off its home schedule on Saturday, May 18 against the Atlanta Dream for the Fry's Food Stores Home Opener.
