Adirondack Phantoms News Release

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Phantoms took the Lowell Devils beyond 60 minutes for the second consecutive day, but came out on the right end this time. Matt Ellison provided the only goal of a five-round shootout to give Philadelphia a 2-1 victory at the Richard Cody Arena at South Mountain in West Orange, NJ.

David Printz gave the Phantoms a 1-0 lead at the first intermission, firing home a blast from the left circle at 16:37. Jussi Timonen recorded the lone assist.

Lowell tied it in the second period when Justin Papineau flipped a puck high in the air from center ice, just over the outstretched arm of Rosario Ruggeri, and was able to find Stephen Gionta. Gionta gloved the puck to the ice and went in on a breakaway, beating Rejean Beauchemin.

It was the only blemish on an otherwise solid night for Beauchemin, who stopped 15 of 16 saves over the first two periods. Jere Mylleniemi played the third and was stellar, making five saves before stopping all five Lowell shooters in the extra session. The Phantoms outshot the Devils on the night, 28-22.

The Phantoms play two more exhibition games in the Delaware Valley. They'll host the Hershey Bears on Monday, Sept. 25 at 1:00 at the Virtua Heath Flyers Skate Zone at Voorhees, and will conclude their exhibition slate with a matchup against Norfolk on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 2:00 at the Polonia Bank Flyers Skate Zone at Northeast. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the respective Skate Zone facilities.

With kids tickets only $8, the Phantoms will begin the 2006-07 regular season on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7:05 PM, against the Norfolk Admirals at the Wachovia Center. Individual tickets are on sale now at phantomshockey.com or by calling 800-298-4200.
