Philadelphia's Sean Scott, Tampa Bay's Shane Stafford and Orlando's Damon Mason earn week one honors

NEW YORK – Philadelphia Soul wide receiver/linebacker SEAN SCOTT, Tampa Bay Storm quarterback SHANE STAFFORD and Orlando Predators defensive specialist DAMON MASON have been named U.S. Army Ironman, Offensive Player and ADT Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 1 of the 2005 season.

U.S. ARMY IRONMAN: Scott (6-2, 200, Temple) led the Philadelphia Soul (1-0) in all facets during their 66-35 victory over the Austin Wranglers (0-1) on Sunday. The former Owl recorded six receptions for 99 yards and two touchdowns, including a 21-yard and 35-yard strike from QB TONY GRAZIANI, in the Soul's first season opening victory in team history. Scott added five solo tackles, three assists and forced a fumble on defense. This marks the first time that the second-year veteran has earned an AFL weekly honor.

OFFENSIVE: Stafford (6-3, 200, Connecticut), who is in his fourth AFL season, led the AFLWA's No. 2-ranked Tampa Bay Storm (1-0) to a 63-33 victory over the defending ArenaBowl champion and preseason No. 1-ranked San Jose SaberCats (0-1) on Sunday. Stafford completed 28-of-35 passes for 273 yards with eight touchdowns and no interceptions. The win was Tampa Bay's seventh consecutive during the regular season and third straight season-opening victory. This marks the second time that the former Husky has earned an AFL weekly honor.

ADT DEFENSIVE: Mason (5-9, 180, SW Louisiana), who is in his eighth season, helped lead the Orlando Predators (1-0) to a 39-36 victory over the Colorado Crush (0-1) in an interconference showdown on Sunday. Mason recorded 11.0 total tackles and an interception in the season opening victory. This marks the first time that the former All-Arena performer has earned an AFL weekly honor.

U.S. Army Ironman of the Week candidates included: Chicago's Henry Douglas, Georgia's Robert Thomas, Grand Rapids' Derin Graham, Las Vegas' Dameon Porter, Nashville's Jarrick Hillery, Orlando's Cory Fleming and Tampa Bay's Lawrence Samuels.

Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Sherdrick Bonner, Dallas' Clint Stoerner, Georgia's Troy Burgeron, Las Vegas' Marcus Nash, Nashville's Leon Murray, Orlando's Joe Hamilton and Philadelphia's Steve Smith.

ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Wendall Gaines, Dallas' Hamin Milligan, Georgia's Dialleo Burks, Los Angeles' Antuan Simmons, Nashville's Jarrick Hillery, Philadelphia's Arkee Thompson and Tampa Bay's Tramain Jones.
