
Philadelphia ends Calgary's four-game winning streak

CALGARY, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks ran into the league's hottest netminder Saturday night and saw their four-game winning streak end.
Matt Roik stopped 43 of 50 shots he faced to lead the Philadelphia Wings to a 10-7 win in National Lacrosse League action Saturday night. After missing Philadelphia's first two games due to injury, Roik has returned to lead the Wings to four straight victories.
Dan Marohl had two goals and three assists to lead the Wings scoring attack. Jake Bergey scored twice and added two assists, Jeff Ratcliffe had two goals and an assist, while Kyle Wailes had a goal and two helpers for the Wings, who improved their record to 4-2. Sean Greenhalgh and Ian Llord each had a goal and an assist, Geoff Snider scored once, while Rob Van Beek had two assists for Philadelphia.
Lewis Ratcliff had a hat trick and an assist and was named player of the game for the Roughnecks (4-2) in front of 14,175 fans at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Kaleb Toth, Jeff Shattler and Kerry Susheski each had a goal and an assist for Calgary. Andrew McBride scored his first goal of the season, while Tracey Keluskey chipped in with two assists. Goalie Andrew Leyshon made 31 saves in a losing cause.
Calgary built up a 5-3 lead in the second quarter on goals by Ratcliff and McBride before the Wings rallied to score three straight markers to take a 6-5 lead into the half-time intermission. The Wings then scored twice in the third and twice in the fourth to take a 10-5 lead before Ratcliff rallied to count two goals and record his hat trick for Calgary to round out the scoring.
Calgary forward Kyle Goundrey missed the game with the flu, while defenceman Andy Ogilvie sat out the contest with a knee injury.
The Roughnecks will look to rebound with a victory next weekend in Colorado when they face the Mammoth on Sunday, Feb. 18. The Riggers then return home to the 'Dome on Friday, Feb. 23 when the face the Toronto Rock at 7:30 p.m.
