SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Pheasants are on a record pace with 83 team home runs already this season. But they did not need the long ball in their win over the Wichita Wingnuts Friday night. Instead they used 13 singles and two doubles on their way to an 11-5 victory before 2,720 fans at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Joe Anthonsen set the tone with a leadoff single in the first. He scored the first run two batters later on Reggie Abercrombie's single, and the Pheasants never lost the lead. Anthonsen collected four hits and an RBI for the second night in a row. Going back to Thursday night, he strung together eight consecutive at-bats with a hit.

The Pheasants tallied four runs total in the first inning and notched four more in the fourth inning. Trevor Lawhorn and Will Richards each whacked a two-run double. The Pheasants tagged two more in the fifth and a run in the seventh. Richards was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Chris Salberg (9-0) stayed undefeated and earned his ninth win. He allowed four runs on five hits over six innings of work. He walked five and struck out four. Salberg posted his first win since July 1.

Luke Massetti (4-5) took the loss for Wichita. He was touched for 10 runs and 13 hits in five innings. He walked two and struck out four.

Pheasants rookie Kevin Carby finished 1-for-5 with two RBI while batting second in the lineup for the first time. He extended his hitting streak to 17 games. He is hitting .375 with three home runs and 17 RBI over a span that began June 25.

The Wingnuts scored three runs in the fifth on the first of two doubles from Michael Bell and an RBI groundout from Michael Sharp. Bell's second double in the sixth inning knocked in the Wingnuts' fourth run of the game. A final run came in long after the game was out of reach in the ninth inning.

The Pheasants are a season-best 23 games above .500 (41-18). They have sole possession of first place in the second half standings.
