Phantoms to Conduct Mascot Tryout Sept. 1

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (August 24, 2009) - Audition to play a huge role in the all the Phantoms fun this upcoming hockey season.
The Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League will conduct tryouts from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1 at the Covelli Centre to find the person who will become the team's new purple dragon mascot.
Only energetic, personable and creative people need apply to entertain hockey fans all season long as the Phantoms' still-unnamed mascot (submit your names here). Whoever is chosen to fill this crucial role will be asked to perform at all Youngstown Phantoms home games, regular season and postseason, as well as represent the organization at public appearances throughout the community. The mascot will also take part in team-produced videos and in-game skits and carry out other duties as assigned.
Applicants must be able to ice skate, possess a basic understanding of the game of hockey, be in good physical condition, have a high school diploma and reliable transportation, and be able to work nights, weekends, holidays and non-traditional hours. Previous costumed mascot experience is preferred, but not required.
