Phantoms Talent Shining Overseas

YOUNGSTOWN-OH Aug. 18, 2010. The Phantoms roster has already proven that the talent level is impressive and the season hasn?t even started yet. Adding to the list of accomplishments the Phantoms have had this off-season, Phantoms defenseman Chris Bradley, was selected to play for the USA Under 18 Select team for the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament held in Piestany, Slovakia August 7-14.

The Phantoms acquired 17 year old Bradley in the 2010 Entry Draft in the 16th Round as the 227th overall pick. He comes off a strong season with the Buffalo Regals AAA team and is hoping to make an impact with the Phantoms this season. Jason Koehler, Director of Player Personnel for the Phantoms says, ?We expect him to contribute immediately to our blue line this season as a first year / high school age player and develop into a strong Division I player and NHL Draft prospect with us this season. He should be one of the most sought after young uncommitted defensemen in the USHL heading into the Fall Classic in Sioux City in late September."

The U.S. Under-18 Select Team fell just short against Canada, 1-0, August 14, in the championship game of the 2010 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. The second-place Team USA posted its best finish at the tournament since 2006, compiling a 3-0-1-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) overall record. Bradley said of the loss, ?We did everything very well, but just could not find the back of the net.?

Phantoms Head Coach, Curtis Carr, said "We are extremely happy for Chris to have an opportunity to represent his country in such a high level event and even more thrilled that he helped his team to silver medal. We are excited to have Chris as part of our team this year and know that his abilities will help us achieve allot this year as well"

As for Bradley, he is ready to begin his career in Youngstown. Bradley says, ?I?m looking forward to playing in the best junior league in the country and playing under Coach Carr. I think of myself as more of a defensive defenseman with good puck movement and vision up ice. I want to be able to make an impact on the team and help to win a championship.?
