Forward Curtis Hall Signs with the Youngstown Phantoms

YOUNGSTOWN, OH - The Phantoms have signed forward Curtis Hall to a USHL tender, Youngstown's first of two potential 2000 born tenders for the 2016-17 season. Hall, a native of Chagrin Falls, OH, will become the first Ohio high school aged full-time player in Phantoms history.
"I think the Phantoms fit perfectly with my expectations of a junior organization. I love it here, I'm close to home, and it's a great situation for me and my family," Hall said.
Hall is currently a high school sophomore and a member of the Cleveland Barons U16 AAA program. In 32 regular season games with the Barons, Hall has 34 points (10G-24A). The 6'0, 175 pound right-shot center is uncommitted to a NCAA program.
"We envision Curtis becoming a top two line center for our organization. He has a great combination of size and skill, can skate well, and plays a 200 foot game. We see a young man with a ton of potential that will grow and improve over his junior hockey career with our coaching staff and strength coach, and we believe he has a very high ceiling. Our organization is excited to sign Curtis and eager to have him in Youngstown moving forward," said Phantoms General Manager Jason Koehler.
With this signing, Youngstown will be forfeiting its first round pick in the 2016 USHL Phase 1 Draft on May 2nd.
Hall is just the fifth player to sign a USHL tender in Phantoms team history. 2015 first round NHL draft pick Kyle Connor (Winnipeg Jets) became Youngstown's first tender back in 2012, along with JJ Piccinich (Toronto Maple Leafs), who was also a fourth round NHL Draft pick in 2014.
United States Hockey League teams are allowed to add, or "tender", up to two players that are eligible for Phase I of the upcoming draft to their roster, prior to the draft. If a team decides to use one of their tenders on a player, that team forfeits one or both of their first two round selections.
