Phantoms Set for Fifth Annual "Sticks-to-Clubs" Golf Outing

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - As the 2011-12 United States Hockey League season creeps closer every day, the Phantoms organization will give summer one last hurrah as they tee off at the fifth annual "Sticks-to-Clubs" golf outing. The outing will be held at Tippecanoe Country Club on Monday, August 1, and golfers will arrive at the course for registration at 9:30 a.m. and there will be a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m.

The golf outing was organized five years ago when the Phantoms were members of the North American Hockey League and the tradition has continued into the Phantoms third season in the USHL. For the Phantoms coaching staff, front office staff and the select players that are in attendance, the outing is a great opportunity to interact with both their fans and business partners.

"I have been involved with the golf outing since its inception in '06," said Phantoms head coach Curtis Carr, "and it has always been a terrific event leading into our training camp. Over the years, the Phantoms have taken pride in the amount of time our players spend out in our community, but this outing offers both our fans and sponsors the chance to interact with me, my staff and the players over the course of an entire day."

This year, former Phantoms defenseman and New York Islanders draft pick Scott Mayfield and current Phantoms Chris Bradley, Stephen Collins, Patrick Conte, Ty Loney, Dylan Margonari and J.T. Stenglein will all be making an appearance at the outing.

"Having our players there is great for a few reasons," said Carr. "First, they get to interact with the golfers that are playing in the outing. Second, and possibly more importantly, they get to interact with each other for the first time since selection camp last month. It is always nice to get your players together when they do not have to worry about the stress of the season."
