Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Waterloo Black Hawks' six-game winning streak ended with a 6-4 loss to the Youngstown Phantoms at Young Arena Saturday.
The Hawks found themselves behind by a bunch after one period. In the final ten-and-a-half minutes of the frame Ben Paulides, Tom Serratore, Cody Strang, and Dylan Margonari all scored for the visitors. Opening the second period behind by four, Derek Arnold started the Hawks' rally during a power play, set up from behind the net by Patrick Divjak at 9:25. Divjak got the next one for Waterloo, with 5.7 seconds remaining in the period, on a feed from Tyler Barnes.
In the third, the Hawks drew back within a goal when Arnold swatted in the rebound from Divjak's shot during a power play at 5:56. The comeback stalled when Brett Gensler scored on a three-on-two rush less than three minutes later. Divjak's fourth point of the night, a career high, brought the Hawks back within one at 13:25. His shot from the rightwing circle fluttered the net to make the game 5-4. In spite of opportunities to tie it in the closing minutes, Waterloo couldn't complete the comeback and Adam Berkle scored into an empty net with .6 seconds remaining.
Waterloo hopes to play even harder in March after their hard work in February brought them as high as six games over .500. A new month of games begins Wednesday at Young Arena with a visit from the Sioux City Musketeers at 7:05. It's an iWireless College Night with $5 tickets to all college students with id.
