Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON) - The Peterborough Petes are excited to be recognizing deserving local minor hockey players with 'Player of the Week' awards.
Each week the Petes will recognize one of their own players, along with players from the PMHC, PHA, PGHA, and local adaptive hockey organizations. Selected recipients will receive tickets to an upcoming Petes game, social media recognition, a certificate of recognition, and other prizes.
Peterborough Petes Player of the Week: Nick Robertson
Robertson registered a goal and an assist in a 5-2 win as the Petes faced the North Bay Battalion to start their ten day road trip on Thursday night. He continued his strong play, scoring twice and adding an assist in a loss to the Wolves before scoring the game winning goal on a penalty shot in a 4-3 victory over the Soo Greyhounds.
Minor Hockey Player of the Week: Cam Ryan (PMHC)
Ryan is described as an upbeat goaltender who is a pleasure to have in the dressing room. He comes to practice every day, works hard, and carries his attitude on to the ice as he stops pucks when it counts to secure wins for the Minor Atom AAA Petes.
Minor Hockey Player of the Week: Oliver Lemire (PHA)
Lemire has had a strong start to the season as he collected three points over the weekend as the Minor Peewee AE Petes tied Belleville 3-3 and fell 3-2 to Clarington. Lemire has shown leadership in the dressing room and has transitioned from defence to forward.
Minor Hockey Player of the Week: Ava D'Alessandro (PGHA)
D'Alessandro is a hard working individual on and off the ice, who is willing to put in the extra effort during practice. Her leadership qualities go beyond her work ethic as she takes time to get to know all her teammates and coaches on her Atom AA Ice Kate team, and tries to check in with each of them daily. She is an advocate for herself and her teammates and speaks up in the dressing room when needed. D'Alessandro realizes the importance of giving back to the community and is involved in multiple local charities, including the "100 Kids Care" campaign.
The Petes welcome coaches, volunteers, parents, and other spectators to nominate deserving local minor hockey athletes by filling out this form.
Single game tickets for all Petes regular season home games are now on sale at the PMC Grant Thornton Box office in person, by phone at (705) 743-3561, or online.
