Guelph Storm News Release

The Guelph Storm announced today that forward Peter Holland is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 31st.

Holland was the Storm's top scorer this weekend recording seven points in three games played. The Caledon native scored or assisted on 7 of his team's 9 goals, recording the third hat trick of his career against the Owen Sound Attack on Friday night at the Sleeman Centre.

Thursday night in Windsor, the Anaheim Ducks' first round pick set up Michael Latta for the only Storm goal of the game in the 5-1 loss. Scoring three of the Storm's six goals on Friday, Holland also picked up an assist on Adam Comrie's 8th of the season and was named the first star of the game. In Owen Sound the following night, the 19 year old helped set up Taylor Beck on the power play and tied the game late in the third forcing overtime with his 19th of the season. Losing in the extra frame, the Storm picked up an important point in the Western Conference playoff battle.

Recording at least one point in each of the Storm's three games this past weekend, Holland currently sits second on the Storm in scoring with 48 points. On fire as of late, the Caledon native has recorded at least one point in 11 of his last 13 games played. He had seven multi point games during the month of January, including two hat tricks. Producing at just over a point per game pace, Holland sits second on the team in assists and fourth in goals scored.

Next up, the Storm faces a weekend away from the Sleeman Centre traveling east to Kingston, Belleville and Ottawa. The next home game on tap for the Storm is February 10th, the final $5 Wecession Wednesday of the season, when the Plymouth Whalers visit the Sleeman Centre for a 7:00 pm start. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online or by visiting or calling the Guelph Storm Box Office at 519-837-9690.
