BIRMINGHAM, AL- The Smokies looked to get the bad taste out of their mouth after dropping a tough 7-6 loss last night in Birmingham. The Smokies had the early lead, but Birmingham scored four unanswered runs to take a 4-2 lead. Tennessee reached the scoreboard first when Smokies first baseman Nelson Maldonado drilled a solo home run off the scoreboard to make it 1-0 in the second inning. The next inning, the Smokies put together some two out magic when Pete Crow-Armstrong singled, Luis Vazquez walked, and then BJ Murray knocked in PCA with a single to make it 2-0 Smokies.
The Barons got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Alsander Womack recorded the first Birmingham hit of the night on a line drive single into center field, scoring Tyler Neslony to cut the Smokies lead down to one run. The Barons took their first lead of the night in the fifth inning on a 2-out, 2 run home run by Moises Castillo to make it 3-2 Birmingham.
