ASHEVILLE-- Robbie Perkins stepped to the plate in the top of the second inning of a 2-2 game. Little did Perkins know, his at-bat would be the difference on Friday night. Robbie hit a Home Run to deep centerfield and that ended up being the game-winner. Asheville defeated Hickory by a final score of 3-2.

Each team scored two runs in the first inning. Willie Abreu singled to score Jose Gomez in the top of the first. Abreu stole second, took third on a throwing error, then scored on a second throwing error. Asheville stole a total of four bases in the game.

Hickory answered with two runs in the bottom of the first. Anderson Tejeda led off the inning with a double and scored on a Tourists fielding error. Alex Kowalczyk added an RBI single to tie the game.

Asheville's pitching buckled down after the first inning. Alejandro Requena bounced back from a rough start against Greenville to notch his second win of the year. Requena fired six shutout innings after the Crawdads' two-run first. Reid Humphreys and JD Hammer finished out the game with scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Abreu and Max George each tallied two hits for the Tourists but it was Perkins' early blast that made the difference. The Tourists will attempt to make it three straight on Saturday night with the first pitch scheduled for 6:00pm.
