Season-high 5 home runs power Intimidators Booker, Zavala each leave the yard for second consecutive

GREENSBORO, N.C. - One night after blasting a season-high four home runs, the Intimidators left the yard five times in an 11-4 squashing of the Grasshoppers on Friday at First National Bank Field. Joel Booker set the tone by leading off the game with a home run (2) as both he and Seby Zavala blasted bombs for the second time in as many games.

Kannapolis (25-21) hit its most home runs in a game since launching five on May 25, 2012, at West Virginia in the second game of a day-night doubleheader. The I's have now hit nine home runs over the team's last two games.

Booker and Brandon Dulin gave Kannapolis an early 3-0 lead with a pair of first-inning home runs. Dulin's 2-run home run (6) scored Jameson Fisher, who later homered (2) in the sixth. Zavala led off the fourth inning with his team-leading ninth home run, tying for the most in the White Sox farm system this season. Later in the frame, Mitch Roman belted his first professional home run to cap a 6-run inning for a 9-1 lead.

Jimmy Lambert (5-2) earned the win, tossing 5 and 2/3 innings and limiting the Grasshoppers to four runs (one earned) on eight hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Kyle Kubat spun 1 and 1/3 scoreless relief innings before Victor Diaz and Jake Eilliott each spun perfect frames in the eighth and ninth, respectively.

Greensboro starter Kyle King (3-3) took the loss, giving up nine runs on 11 hits including the Intimidators first four home runs.

The Intimidators continue this 4-game series against the Grasshoppers on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. as RHP Yosmer Solorzano (1-2, 5.32 ERA) takes the mound for Kannapolis against Greensboro's RHP Jordan Holloway (0-1, 5.23 ERA). The Intimidators return to Kannapolis for a 4-game home stand June 1-4 against the Grasshoppers.
