Arlington Renegades quarterback Luis Perez, Renegades linebacker Donald Payne, and D.C. Defenders running back Cam'Ron Harris were named the OurSports Central XFL Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Unsung Hero of the Week, respectively, for the XFL Division Championship games.

Perez completed 19 of 27 passes for 289 yards and three touchdowns and added 13 rushing yards in the Renegades' shocking 26-11 upset victory over the Houston Roughnecks to advance to the XFL Championship. His favorite target was wide receiver JaVonta Parker who caught five throws for 121 yards and two scores. Acquired from the Vegas Vipers barely a month ago, Perez transformed a moribund Arlington offense, leading the Renegades to touchdowns on two of their first three drives.

Perhaps it shouldn't be a surprise that Perez has adapted so quickly as the oft-traveled passer finds himself with his sixth team in five years.

  • 2019: Birmingham Iron - Alliance of American Football
  • 2020: Los Angeles Wildcats - XFL
  • 2020: New York Guardians - XFL
  • 2021: Jousters - The Spring League
  • 2022: New Jersey Generals - United States Football League
  • 2023: Vegas Vipers - XFL

Perez's second touchdown of the game, a 59-yarder to Parker in the second quarter, proved to be the game-winner.

Honorable mention goes to D.C. Defenders tight end Briley Moore McKinney who caught four passes for 80 yards in the Defenders' 37-21 win over the Seattle Sea Dragons to reach the XFL Championship. Prior to Sunday he had totaled just 80 receiving yards in eight games this season.

His 56-yard reception in the second quarter set up a field goal.

Payne led a swarming Renegades defense with 10 total tackles, helping hold the Houston offense to their lowest point total of the season. Payne played with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017 until 2019, then with the United States Football League's Houston Gamblers in 2022 where he led the league with 117 total tackles and made the All-USFL team. Arlington selected him in the third round of the XFL Supplemental Draft.

D.C. Defenders defensive back Santos Ramirez earned an honorable mention with seven total tackles and two passes defensed in the Defenders' victory.

Cut by the Sea Dragons in February, Harris signed with the Defenders on April 21st. He was such a late addition last week, the team didn't have time to add his name to the back of his jersey. It was there this week as he contributed five carries for 25 yards and two late rushing touchdowns.

Harris played college football at Miami for three seasons where he gained 1,628 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.

Harris' touchdown in the fourth quarter put the game out of reach.
