St. Louis Battlehawks quarterback A.J. McCarron, Houston Roughnecks defensive end Trent Harris and St. Louis Battlehawks wide receiver Austin Proehl were named the OurSports Central XFL Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Unsung Hero of the Week, respectively, for week one of the XFL season.

McCarron completed 18 of 26 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns and added 12 rushing yards in the Battlehawks' 18-15 victory over the San Antonio Brahmas. In the fourth quarter McCarron completed 11-14 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns to complete a comeback win.

McCarron starred for Alabama where he won three BCS Championships in 2010, 2012 and 2013. The Cincinnati Bengals drafted him in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, and he remained with Cincinnati from 2014 until 2017. In 2018 he spent time with the Oakland Raiders before catching on with the Houston Texans.

McCarron was emotional after celebrating the St. Louis Battlehawks come-from-behind victory:

Honorable mention: Houston Roughnecks quarterback Brandon Silvers completing 26 of 42 passes for 272 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Houston's 33-12 win over the Orlando Guardians.

Harris finished his evening with four sacks in the Roughnecks' 33-12 home victory over the Guardians.

Harris played college football at Miami. Professionally, he spent time with the NFL's Miami Dolphins in 2019 and New York Giants the following two years.

Here's Harris fourth sack of the game for the Roughnecks late in the fourth quarter:

Honorable mention: D.C. Defenders cornerback Michael Joseph intercepted two passes, returning one of them 15 yards for a touchdown in D.C.'s 22-18 victory over the Seattle Sea Dragons.

Proehl played a big part in St. Louis' comeback, first catching the fourth and 15 onside kick alternative from McCarron, gaining 22-yards to help the Battlehawks retain possession. He completed his string of clutch catches by snagging the game-winning, 14-yard touchdown reception in a crowd of three defenders in the Battlehawks victory over San Antonio.

Proehl competed in the XFL in 2020 with the Seattle Dragons. His father is former NFL receiver Ricky Proehl who is now the St. Louis wide receivers coach.

Here's Proehl's game winning reception from Battlehawks quarterback A.J. McCarron:
