
Perera Scores Four in Sockers' 14-4 Win over Seattle

SEATTLE--Nick Perera scored four goals with two assists and Kraig Chiles added a hat trick as the San Diego Sockers rolled past Seattle Impact FC 14-4 at ShoWare Center in suburban Seattle. Eduardo Velez added two goals and two assists as the Sockers used runs of six and five consecutive goals to subdue the expansion Impact, who were playing their first-ever game in the Major Arena Soccer League.
The Sockers (2-0) encountered a game Impact side looking to impress their new fans in the Pacific Northwest, and Seattle managed to level the score at 1-1 midway through the first quarter. San Diego took control from there, with Perera scoring his second goal of the quarter on a power play after the Impact were called for an illegal substitution penalty. San Diego led 4-2 after fifteen minutes.
The second quarter was a Sockers romp, with San Diego slotting five goals into the back of the Impact net. Defender Ze Roberto scored his first of the season, while team captain Chiles and Perera each finished their hat tricks before halftime. The second half saw 22-year-old Argentinian rookie Matias Kruger net his first Sockers goal, while Dan Antoniuk and Jeff Hughes also scored for San Diego.
Jesus Molina (1-0), acquired in an offseason trade with the Las Vegas Legends, started in goal and picked up the win in his Sockers debut. Starting keeper Chris Toth was a healthy scratch. Corey Maret, Jamael Cox, Bobby Hurwitz and Mark Cox tallied for the Impact, who started Peter Sliwa in goal (0-1).
