OHL Soo Greyhounds

Perdicaro released to Blue Jackets

Soo Greyhounds News Release

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club has released forward Anthony Perdicaro to the Ohio Blue Jackets of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Despite the move to the Tier 1 Junior A club, Perdicaro's OHL rights will be retained by the Greyhounds.

An 8th Round Pick of the Hounds in 2005, Perdicaro has appeared in 37 game this season while accumulating 1 goal and 3 assists. The East Rockaway, NY native scored his first OHL goal this past Saturday in a 2-1 victory over the Sudbury Wolves.

With players returning from injuries, ice time and depth were a couple factors in the decision process according to Hounds GM Dave Torrie.

"With the expected return of Jiri Tlusty and Jacob Lalonde in the next 7 to 10 days, Anthony would have been in the position of not being in our top 12 forwards. In the past month or so, other young players such as Sean Jones, Chris MacKinnon and James Livingston have moved past Anthony in our depth chart. Unfortunately there is only so much ice time to be distributed and he was going to be in a position of not being in the line-up everyday. We felt it was only fair to explain Anthony's position with the Greyhounds to him and his advisors, and with the January 10th deadline upon us, they had to choose whether Anthony was going to move or stay here and attempt to work his way back into our top 12 forwards. Obviously they have chosen to move on and we wish Anthony the best of luck in Ohio."

This move leaves the Greyhounds roster sitting at 22 players - 13 forwards, 7 defenceman and 2 goalies.

"We're happy with the progress our younger payers have made to this point, particularly Jones, MacKinnon, Livingston and Muzzin. Carrying 22 players on our roster should allow those players to continue their development while giving us some depth should we be faced with future injuries" concluded Torrie.
