Peoria Riverman Drop Houston Aeros 4-1

PEORIA, IL - The Houston Aeros (30-31-7-4) dropped the first of two weekend games against the Peoria Rivermen (35-30-2-6) 4-1 Saturday night in front of 5,459 at Carver Arena. C Cam Paddock scored two goals and added an assist for Peoria, RW Barry Tallackson also added a goal and an assist and G Ben Bishop (21-16-3) made 23 saves in the win. RW Jon DiSalvatore scored the lone goal for Houston and G Anton Khudobin (12-18-4) made 21 saves in the loss.

Peoria out-shot the Aeros 8-6 in the first period and took a 1-0 lead at 14:14 with Paddock's 10th goal of the season. After winning a faceoff in the Aeros zone, the puck went to the right corner to Tallackson, who found Paddock with a back door pass and the first goal of the game; D Nate Guenin also assisted on the goal.

Houston began the second period killing off a Tripping penalty to D J.P. Testwuide, followed by a Holding penalty to D Brandon Rogers at 4:48. Peoria continued to pressure after the power play and Tallackson gave Peoria a 2-0 lead at 9:00. Khudobin made the initial save on a shot by D Daryl Boyle but the rebound went to the stick of Tallackson who was able to skate behind the net and score on the wraparound for his 19th goal of the season. Paddock received the second assist on the goal.

Peoria extended its lead to 3-0 just 14 seconds into the third period. A shot went to the front of the Aeros net, bounced off the post and out in front of Khudobin where Paddock was able to poke in the rebound for his second of the game; D Ian Cole earned the only assist on the goal. Houston responded at 4:16 with DiSalvatore's 21st of the season. LW Robbie Earl sent the initial shot from the right faceoff circle and DiSalvatore was able to clean up the rebound after Bishop made the initial save. C Tony Hrkac also assisted on the goal, his first point in nine games with the Aeros this season. D Ian Cole finished the scoring with his first career AHL goal at 16:39 of the third period, RW Pascal Pelletier and C Derek Armstrong assisted on the goal.

Houston went 0-for-3 on the power play while the Rivermen went 0-for-4 on the night. Peoria out-shot the Aeros 25-24 for the game.
