Peoria Pirates are Blitz Playoff Opponent

The West Division Champion Bakersfield Blitz plays host to the Peoria Pirates this Saturday in playoff action at Centennial Garden. The Blitz earned a first round bye in the post-season by finishing as the #2 seed in the National Conference. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

The Peoria Pirates top defense held one of the league most potent offenses to just 199 total yards and forced four turnovers en route to a 45-36 upset in Oklahoma City on Saturday night. Yard Dawgz first two plays from scrimmage were turnovers and QB Craig Strickland was knocked from the game. Peoria's Jerald Burley caught six passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Radio and Television

Tune in for the "Indoor War Report" with Head Coach Rick Van Horne each and every Thursday night from the Holiday Inn Select. The IWR is a weekly live talk show featuring player and coaches that discusses news and notes from the Blitz and the af2, and airs exclusively on KGEO AM 1230 with the "Voice of the Blitz" Kevin Bartl. The show will continue as long as the Blitz continues playing through the post season.

All games, home and away, can be heard on KGEO AM 1230 with "Countdown to Kickoff" 15 minutes prior to kickoff. Home games are televised live on Bright House Networks Ch. 21, with a replay of the game starting at 1:00pm the following Sunday afternoon.

Peoria ranked in top six in six defensive categories but also ranked dead last in five offensive categories. While the Blitz rank in the top 10 in five categories overall, Peoria is in the top 10 in 12 categories.
