Pensacola Ice Flyers Look to Help Four Legged Friends

Pensacola, FL (February 16, 2011) - The Pensacola Ice Flyers are helping their four legged, furry friends this weekend with their 2nd Annual Weiner Dog Races.
This year's event will benefit the Hotel for Dogs and Cats Adoption Center in Pensacola. Weiner Dog Racing has become a staple in the SPHL with many teams participating each year. "The event is one of our fan favorites and it's growing to become one of our biggest nights," Aaron Epstein, Director of Marketing and Game Presentation said. "The players are wearing specialty jerseys for the night and the races will take place on the ice during intermission again this year."
Last season, fans responded in tremendous fashion bringing in hundreds of items for the Humane Society and this year, fans are asked to once again open their hearts and bring in wish list items for the Hotel for Dogs and Cats. Every fan bringing in an item will be entered in a raffle for any replica jersey of their choice, valued at over $100. Head Coach Todd Gordon commented, "Our fans show us each year how generous they are when we have events like this and we are expecting the same for this event. Even the players get excited about this night because the energy in the building is electric."
Adding to the excitement in the arena will be area vendors including Shampoochies Dog Grooming, Cain's Dog House, Spanish Trail Veterinary Hospital and Luxury Pet Boarding, and Tiger Rock ITA to name a few. These sponsors will have tables set up around the concourse and interacting with fans and providing giveaways.
Doors to the arena open at 6pm and the puck drops at 7:05pm. After the game, a Specialty Jersey Auction will take place and fans will have a chance to bid on one of a kind Specialty Jerseys.
