Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

The SPHL finalized the 2010-2011 schedule today which includes the expansion Augusta River Hawks which now makes an even eight teams in the league. The addition of Augusta is significant because it now allows the ability to play more Friday and Saturday nights.

The Ice Flyers schedule looks to be very favorable for fans to be able to enjoy the action all season long. During the upcoming 28 game season the Ice Flyers will be playing 22 Friday and Saturday nights, 1 Sunday afternoon game and 5 weekday games that will be played on Monday's or Thursday's. The Ice Flyers begin their season on the road at Columbus Friday October 22nd then return home for opening night at the Hangar on Saturday October 23rd against the Louisiana Ice Gator's.

Team owner Tim Kerr stated "That he is pleased with the schedule and that the additional 3 weekend games makes a big difference for the success of hockey in Pensacola, because more fans can come to the Hangar and enjoy the excitement." Weekend games are the cornerstone of the SPHL, and as the newly appointment league chairman Tim feels that 22 or 24 weekend games is a must and feels this schedule makes for a very favorable 2nd season for the Ice Flyers. Coach Gordon is also very excited about the increased weekend games, he feels "From a hockey stand point it's much easier to keep the energy up on the ice in front of a packed house and players tend to elevate their play when there are more fans in the stands and the feel of the Hangar is more electric." On another note Coach Gordon has been working hard on solidifying the Ice Flyers defense during this off-season and is very pleased with some of the new players he has been scouting and feels this coming season the Ice Flyers will be more fundamentally solid.

The Ice Flyers also feel that the schedule works well for its season ticket holders and have been hard a work increasing the perks of being an Ice Flyers Season Ticket Holder. This year season ticket holders will be able to enjoy the "Officer's Club" VIP lounge which only season ticket holders can access, 10% off merchandise all season, weekly Ice Flyers insider email to stay up to date on all the latest news and discounts at selected businesses around town. In addition the Ice Flyers got permission from the county commissioners to control parking in the front lot. Season ticket holders can now purchase season parking passes for the front lot directly from the Ice Flyers. Tim Kerr feels this is a big plus for his season ticket holders, "With having to charge for parking last season the biggest issue I heard was not being able to buy lot specific passes. Some of our ticket holders could not get to the games early enough to get a front spot and wouldn't make it in to the Hangar by puck drop. This now allows them to have reserved parking and not have to worry about parking and missing the beginning of the games." There are 200 spots available and will be sold on a first come first serve basis to current season ticket holders for $140 per pass with no limit on the number they can buy.

To purchase your 2010-2011 Season Tickets or parking passes stop by the Ice Flyers front office at the rear of the Civic Center, call 850-466-3111 or visit www.pensacolaiceflyers.com for more information. Season Tickets start at just $280 each and can be reserved with a $75 per seat deposit.
