LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
FRIDAY, October 19: Penguins 2, FALCONS 4...
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins battled back from a 2-0 hole to tie the contest only to see the Springfield Falcons pull away for a 4-2 win.
Down by two going into the third period, Joe Morrow and Phil Dupuis struck on consecutive power plays to even the score, 2-2. Less than three minutes later, Cam Atkinson pounced on the turnover and potted the game-winner for the Falcons. Jonathan Audy-Marchessault had a three-point night (1+2) for Springfield.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was 2-for-10 overall on the man-advantage. Jeff Zatkoff made 23 saves for WBS.
SATURDAY, October 20: PENGUINS 2, Sound Tigers 3...
For the second straight game, the Penguins found themselves down 2-0 after the opening twenty minutes of hockey and eventually fell to Bridgeport, 3-2, in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's home opener.
Riley Holzapfel cut the Sound Tigers lead in half at 7:48 of the second with his first goal of the season, but Bridgeport would go back up by two on John Persson's goal with 3:28 left in the same period.
Eric Tangradi pulled Wilkes-Barre/Scranton within one with four minutes left in regulation, but the Penguins could not find the equalizer despite a power play late in the contest.
SUNDAY, October 21: PENGUINS 1, Crunch 3...
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was unable to climb back from another early deficit as they were defeated by the Syracuse Crunch, 3-1.
Keith Aulie broke the scoreless tie just 3:38 into the contest before the Crunch padded their lead with a pair of goals during a five-minute major power play. Cory Conacher put Syracuse ahead, 2-0, with four minutes until the intermission and Tyler Johnson cashed in two minutes later.
Phil Dupuis broke up Dustin Tokarski's shutout effort, scoring an extra attacker power play goal with 1:57 to go.

The Penguins face the Americans (3-2-0-0) for the first time this regular season. Rochester is fresh off a dramatic 8-7 win over the Hershey Bears last Saturday in which they went 4-for-6 on the power play. Marcus Foligno is tied for second in the AHL with eight points (5+3) and tied for the league lead with five goals.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will be looking for redemption as they battle Syracuse (4-0-0-1) for the second time in six days. The Crunch have won six straight since falling in the shootout in its season opener to Rochester. Cory Conacher, last season's MVP, ranks first among all AHL scorers with nine points (4+5).

The Penguins and Bears (1-2-1-0) renew their rivalry with the first of twelve meetings this season. Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguin Jeff Taffe is Hershey's top point-getter with seven (4+3). The Penguins were 7-3-0-2 versus the Bears in 2011-12.
ICE CHIPS...
- Philippe Dupuis played his 400th game as a pro on Friday in Springfield.
- Warren Peters is five away from his 500th professional game.
- Joe Morrow scored his first pro goal on Friday versus the Falcons.
- WBS racked up 10 power play chances versus the Falcons. The last time the Pens had 10 man-advantages was Apr. 6, 2011 versus Hershey.
