WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed defenseman Lane Manson, it was announced today by Assistant General Manager Chuck Fletcher.

Manson, 23, appeared in 67 games with the Dayton Bombers (ECHL) last season, recording 10 points (0+10) and 166 penalty minutes. He also played in 22 playoff games, registering three assists and 34 penalty minutes.

The 6-9, 250 pound native of Watrous, Saskatchewan has played three seasons with Dayton and Gwinnet in the ECHL, combining for 36 points (7+29) and 462 penalty minutes in 204 regular season games.

Before turning pro, Manson played three seasons with the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL), recording 24 points (7+17) and 533 penalty minutes in 205 regular season games.

He was selected in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers.

The Nailers will open the ECHL's 20th Anniversary season with a game against the Johnstown Chiefs on Oct. 18th. It will be a rematch of Game 7 from the first-ever ECHL Finals. Wheeling will open their home schedule on Oct. 26 against the South Carolina Stingrays.
