Penguins Sign Darling to PTO

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed goaltender Scott Darling to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Darling, 24, is 13-12-3 with the Wheeling Nailers over 31 games in 2012-13 - his first full season in the ECHL - and has posted one shutout, a 2.80 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. The third-year pro made his American Hockey League debut earlier this season, signing a PTO with Hamilton on Nov. 14 and appearing in one game for the Bulldogs.

Prior to his time with the Nailers, Darling split two seasons in the Southern Professional Hockey League between the Louisiana IceGators and Mississippi RiverKings, compiling a record of 21-39-1, a 3.32 GAA and a .899 save percentage.

A sixth-round pick (#153rd overall) of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Darling played collegiate hockey with the University of Maine from 2008-10.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins complete their three-game home stand on Friday, March 29 at 7:05pm against the Providence Bruins.
