Wild Recalls Hackett, Assigns Dowell

Houston, TX - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced on Thursday the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goaltender Matt Hackett from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Wild assigned forward Jake Dowell to Houston.

Hackett, 23 (3/7/90), is being recalled for the second time this season, having not yet appeared in a game with Minnesota this season. He is 19-20-3 with a 2.66 GAA and a .907 SV% in 43 games for Houston this season. The 6-foot-2, 179-pound native of London, Ont., was Minnesota's third-round pick (No. 77 overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Last season, Hackett set an NHL record for the longest shutout streak to start a career at 102:48. He went 3-6-0 with a 2.37 GAA and .922 SV% in 12 games with the Wild. Hackett posted a 34-save shutout in 58:49 of relief at San Jose in his NHL debut Dec. 6, 2011. He was named the NHL's Second Star of the Week on Dec. 12 after stopping 76-of-78 shots in his first two NHL games, earning both victories with a 1.01 GAA and .974 SV%.

Dowell, 28 (3/4/85), was recalled from Houston on March 24 and did not appear in a game for the Wild. Dowell has seven points (4-37) and 29 penalty minutes (PIM) in 26 games for the Aeros this season. The 6-foot, 202-pound native of Eau Claire, Wisc., was signed by the Wild as a free agent July 4, 2012. Dowell has skated in 154 NHL games with Chicago and Dallas, posting 33 points (11-2233) and 133 PIM. He was originally selected by Chicago in the fifth round (No. 140 overall) of the 20204 NHL Entry Draft.

Houston continues a ten-game home stand at Toyota Center on Friday Mar. 29 at 7:05 p.m. Friday is "Go Green" Night, powered by a Cell Phone drive. As part of going "Green", fans are asked to bring in old cell phones for a Cell Phone Drive. The Aeros will award two tickets for a select future home game for each phone donation (up to ten per person). Grand Rapids will return to Toyota Center on Tuesday, Apr. 2 at 7:05 p.m.
