Penguins Loan Day, Sign Chupp to PTO

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Brian Day has been loaned to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. In addition, the Penguins have signed Nailers center Cody Chupp to a professional try-out agreement.

Day, 23, will be skating in his first game action this season after suffering an injury during training camp. The first-year player made his pro debut last spring with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, recording two goals and three assists in three games. Day was a four-year letterman at Cornell University, where he totaled 110 points (54g-56a) in 149 contets.

Chupp began the season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, posting two assists in six games, before joining Wheeling on November 7. The Big Rapids, MI-native has compiled nine goals, 10 assists and six penalty minutes in 24 games for the Nailers and is tied for second on the team in goals. A second-year pro, Chupp appeared in 58 matches with the Texas Stars last season, registering five goals and eight assists.
