SPRINGDALE, AR- The Arkansas Travelers got a great start from Aiel Pena as they defeated the Naturals 1-0 on Saturday night at Arvest Ballpark. The evens the four game set between the two teams.
The Travelers took the lead in the in the top of fourth inning against the Naturals' starter Noel Arguelles (2-7). The first scoring on an RBI ground out from Ryan Mount, and the second coming on a wild pitch by Arguelles. The Travelers tacked on another run in the fifth inning. Travis Witherspoon ripped a triple to center field and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jean Segura to make it a 3-0 game.
Arguelles worked six innings allowing four hits and three runs, while walking two and striking out two. His counterpart Pena (5-4) went six innings allowing just one hit walking two and striking out seven.
Segura delivered an insurance run for the Travelers in the top of the eighth inning with a solo home run to right field. The home run was the sixth of the season for Segura and made it a 4-0. The Naturals lone hit of the night came in the second inning when Nick Van Stratten came through with a single. The one hit was the fewest the Naturals have had in a game since August 8, 2009.
The Naturals will continue their four-game series with the Arkansas Travelers tomorrow night at 6:05 PM. Right-hander Michael Mariot (3-2, 4.34) will take the mound for the Naturals to against the Travelers right-hander Mike Piazza (1-2, 2.81). The game can be heard on ESPN 92.1 The Ticket.
