
Pelicans Win in 10 Innings

Pensacola Pelicans News Release
A little rain and an extra inning is all it took for Pensacola to beat the Fort Worth Cats tonight 3-2. Pensacola was able to scratch out the win by a 10th inning bunt by Hunter Vick. Cats' catcher fielded the ball, spun and threw the ball into left field allowing Carlos Mendoza to score the winning run for Pensacola.
Neither team played clean baseball. Both teams combined to have seven errors and a total of 21 batters left on base. Pensacola used five pitchers over the night and Fort Worth used four. Guerero Casadiego was able to get the win after he came on the pitch the 10th inning giving up no runs. Dave Stevens pitched only .2 innings and suffered the loss.
Pensacola was lead by Andy Wilson, Larry Bethea and Carlos Mendoza who all had two hits.
Fort Worth hitters were not as successful against the Pelicans pitching staff, only getting five hits on the night. Tim Hartshorn had two of them, going 2-5 and scored one of the Cats' two runs.
Pensacola improves to 23-15, remaining in first place and Fort Worth falls to 18-18.
Both teams play here tomorrow night for the second game in the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05. Marcos Castillo is scheduled to start for Pensacola and Fort Worth will be throwing Brandon Wood.
