Shreveport Sweeps Doubleheader From Jackson

The Shreveport Sports swept a doubleheader from the Jackson Senators by identical scores of 3-2 Wednesday night at Fair Grounds Field.

The Sports won the first game when Tony Mack singled with the bases loaded in the 6th inning to score Derek Patterson with the winning run. Thad Markray picked up his sixth win of the season, the first six game winner in the Central League and Trey Poland came in to get the final out in the seventh to record his first save of the year.

In the second game, Jackson had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning only to have Shreveport score three runs in the bottom of the sixth. After one out in the sixth, the Sports had four consecutive singles with a RBI by Joe Dusan to tie the game at 1-1, Derek Henderson singled to drive in the second run and Jorge Alvarez drove in the third run in the inning. Jackson came backd and scored a run in the seventh, but the Senators came up a run short.

Keith Black went the distance to pick up the victory for the Sports while Rusty Camp pitched a complete game for Jackson, but took the loss.

It was the first doubleheader for the Sports this season who will close out the three game series with Jackson Thursday night at 7:05.
