Coastal Bend Aviators News Release

San Angelo righthander Mike Henry scattered five hits en route to a complete game victory and the Colts used a 13-hit attack to hand Coastal Bend a 9-0 defeat in front of 1,814 Wednesday night at Fairgrounds Field in Robstown, Texas...the Aviators suffering their first shutout of the season and seeing a three game winning streak go by the wayside.

San Angelo plated the all the runs they would need in the first two innings – in the 1st Aviators starter Jonathan Guzman issued back-to-back leadoff walks...Jorge Diaz eventually scoring on a Sean Bischofberger single. The Colts then erupted for four runs in the 2nd inning – with two outs and nobody on, consecutive singles by Diaz and Tony James set up Ricky Magdaleno's RBI double to give San Angelo a 2-0 lead...and on the next pitch, Juan Rocha connected for a three-run homer to left that gave the Colts a five-run advantage.

Guzman couldn't get out of the 4th, as San Angelo used RBI singles by Diaz and Magdaleno to highlight a three-run inning and widening their lead to 8-0. Henry, meanwhile, did not allow an Aviators baserunner past second base all night...in fact, Coastal Bend had just one inning where they had more than one man aboard at any one time. Aviators relievers Bubba Makowsky, Jorge Huerta and Andy Davidson kept San Angelo off the scoreboard through the 8th inning, but in the 9th Brian Dikdan surrendered a solo homer to Colts catcher Kasey Wilson to post San Angelo's final run. Henry closed out the contest by retiring Coastal Bend in order in the bottom of the 9th to give San Angelo the victory and knot up the three-game series at one win apiece.

Henry (4-1) struck out three in earning the complete game victory...Guzman (0-1) allowed seven earned runs in his three innings of work and was tagged with the loss. Carlos Adolfo and Bryan Loeb combined for four of the five Aviators hits on the night...Diaz went 3-for-5 and Rocha collected four RBI to lead the Colts, who with Wednesday's win improved to 20-19 on the season...Coastal Bend slipped to 19-20 for the year and back into third place in the Central Baseball League's West Division. The series rubber match (and the Aviators homestand finale) is set for Thursday, with lefthander Lavelle Morgan (2-3) on the mound for Coastal Bend...San Angelo will throw newly-acquired righthander Mark Persails (3-3 with Jackson before being traded to the Colts over the weekend).
