Pelicans to end first half of season

ABOUT THE SERIES

With the Cats having already wrapped up the CBL first half title, the teams will be playing for pride as the opening segment of the season comes to a close with a four game set in Fort Worth. The Pelicans (25-18) and Cats (30-13) previously met May 20-22 at Pelican Park with Pensacola taking two of three games despite being outscored by a combined total of 13-11. Six Pelicans hit over .300 against Fort Worth, which boast the lowest team ERA in the CBL. Leading the way was Jose Salas, who hit .455 with a homer, two RBI, and a double. Gerardo Casadiego had his best game of the season versus Fort Worth, fanning 11 cats over eight innings while only giving up two runs in Pensacola's 5-2 game one victory. Terrell Merriman punished Pensacola pitching, hitting .455 with two homeruns and five RBI. Carlos Adolfo was the only other Cat to hit over .300 against the Pelicans with a .308 average. The remainder of the Fort Worth roster hit a combined .147 versus Pensacola. Kevin Lynn picked up the Cats' lone victory, but has since been purchased by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

WHO TO WATCH:
Pensacola: Larry Bethea-1B- Is tied for the CBL lead in homeruns with eleven to go along with 36 RBI. Santos Hernandez -RHP - 2.43 ERA is third in the CBL. Has 42 strikeouts versus only seven walks.

Fort Worth: Terrence Green -3B -Is hitting .326 with a league best 16 stolen bases and 16 doubles. Matt Spencer -RHP- Has pitched back to back complete games and is fourth in the league with 59 strikeouts.
