Pelicans Pitcher, Josh Kranawetter, CBL Pitcher of the Week

The Central Baseball League office announced today that right handed pitcher, Josh Kranawetter, got named the CBL Pitcher of the Week. San Angelo's Juan Rocha was named Batter of the Week. This was based on their performance from May 31 – June 6.

Kranawetter went 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two starts last week. In his last start, he tossed a four hit complete game shut-out on June 4 in the Pelicans road win over Amarillo. In that game, he struck out 10 batters for the third time this season. Kranawetter has won three straight for the Pelicans. His season totals are: a record of 3-2 and an ERA of 2.25, he has struck out 49 and walked only 13 in 40 innings pitched. Opposing batters are hitting a measly .203 against him. Kranawetter is currently ranked 4th in the league in pitching with his ERA of 2.25 and 2nd in the league in strikeouts with 49.

The Pelicans are the hottest team in the Central League, winning its last eight straight games and 12 of its last 14 games. The Pelicans have played a .667 clip since starting the season 2-7. Team batting has jumped up from second to last to third in the league, hitting .281 as a team. There are currently four players hitting in the top 10 in Mike Rodriguez, Carlos Mendoza, Josey Shannon and Andy Wilson. The pitching staff has also improved, propelling them to third spot with a team ERA of 3.97. There are three pitchers in the top 10 in pitching in Josh Kranawetter, Trey Stephens and lefty Phil Devey on top of it all with a 3-1 record and 1.46 ERA.

Pensacola is playing in San Angelo today thru Wednesday and head home to take on Amarillo on Friday.
