Pensacola Pelicans News Release
San Angelo, TX- The Pelicans would jump on top early with a 2 run blast off the bat of Larry Bethea. They would follow that with 2 unearned runs to stake out to a 4-0 lead. The Colts got back a run to cut the defecit to 3, but Mike Rodriguez blasted a 5th inning 3-run homer to demoralize the Colts as that made it 7-1. A Tony James homer in the 9th would give the Colts a bit of excitement but it would prove to be not enough as San Angelo would fall 10-4. For the Colts, it is their 5th straight loss, which is the longest such streak of the season. Meanwhile, Pensacola has made it an astounding 9 straight wins with their victory tonight. The Colts Chad Johnson took the loss, pitching 6 innings but fell to 2-5 with the setback. Marcos Castillo was the man on the mound for the Pelicans, and he took advantage to get his 1st win of the season in his 1st start of the year. The Colts would actually outhit Pensacola 10-9, but ended up trading singles for multi-run scoring homers with the Pelicans, and that was a formula that did not work out. San Angelo did not help their cause, hitting into 5 double plays. Offensively, Jorge Diaz we 3-3 for the Colts and stole 3 more bases to give him 28 on the season. Cris Colon also had 3 hits in a losing effort. Bethea meanwhile was 2-3 with 3 RBI's to lead the Pelicans.
