The Pelicans return home after splitting four games in Kinston over the weekend. The Birds start a seven-game homestand tonight with the first of four against the Potomac Nationals. Game notes are attached and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

OH, SNAP!: Sunday marked the end of Travis Adair's nine-game hitting streak. Moving up to the three spot in the batting order yesterday, he went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in the series finale in Kinston. It was his first hitless effort since April 13 at Frederick. The streak included two three-hit games and four two-hit games. The nine-gamer is tied for the second-longest streak in the Carolina League this season, behind Dan Wagner of Winston-Salem, who has an active ten-game streak going. During the nine games, Adair batted .472 (17-36) with a home run, five doubles, nine RBIs and ten runs scored. He raised his season batting average from .238 to .367, fourth-best in the league.

KENNY'S POWERS: With two more scoreless innings yesterday, reliever Kennil Gomez continued his excellent start to the 2011 season. In five appearances, the Dominican right-hander has allowed just one run in 11 innings (0.82 ERA) while striking out 13. having only surrendered four hits, his .111 opponent batting average is the second-best mark in the Carolina League.

WHIP IT: The Myrtle Beach staff boasts two of the league's top five pitchers in WHIP. Tonight's starter Robbie Erlin averages 0.87 walks and hits per inning, trailing only Drew Pomeranz of Kinston (0.73). After Friday's brilliant outing in Kinston, Robbie Ross lowered his mark to 0.96, which is fifth-lowest in the circuit. The two lefties also rank third and fourth in the league in batting average against. Ross' .176 average is third-best and Erlin is right behind him at .182.
