
Pelicans Eliminated from Postseason, Fall 4-3 against Red Sox

Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class-A Advanced affiliates of the Texas Rangers, saw their season come to an end Thursday with a 4-3 loss in 10 innings against the Salem Red Sox at TicketReturn.com Field. The Pelicans, the first half champions in the southern division, were swept in the divisional round and lost each game in 10 innings by one run apiece.
Right-hander Matt Price (1-0) worked two scoreless innings with four strikeouts and took the win. Nick McBride surrendered a Matt Gedman sacrifice fly in the tenth inning and was saddled with the loss.
With the score tied 3-3, the Pelicans threatened to win the game in the ninth inning, loading the bases with just one away. Price was able to strike out Robinson and Adams to send the game to extra innings. The Pelicans finished 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 10 on base in the game.
The Pelicans took a 3-0 lead after two innings. Hanser Alberto started the scoring with a sacrifice fly before a sac fly from Chris Grayson. Odubel Herrera made it a three-run inning with a two-out, RBI single.
The Red Sox rallied to tie the game in the fifth inning, two of which scored on a two-run single from Henry Ramos.
Royce Bolinger, Jorge Alfaro and Grayson tallied two hits apiece for the Pelicans.
Right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez started and went 4.2 innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Cody Kendall turned in two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
