Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are pleased to announce the return of theme nights, group nights and special events to BB&T Coastal Field in 2009. As in years past, the Pelicans will make a strong effort to continue their philanthropic efforts this season through many of the special events that will be held at the park.
The themes for the 2009 season get started with the season opener (April 9) when the Pelicans will remember long-time pitching coach Bruce "DC" Dal Canton. DC will be honored in a pre-game ceremony including the retirement of his number and honorary guests who were close to DC throwing out the first pitch. The Pelicans will welcome students from area schools to back-to-back afternoon games on School Kids Days (May 26 & 27). Volunteers including members of the Pelicans front office staff will be chopping their hair off for a worthy cause on Locks for Love Night (August 12). Other events geared towards benefiting the community include Christmas in July (July 31) to help Toys for Tots and Lindsey's Little Miracles Night (May 23).
The Pelicans will welcome back man's best friend during Bark in the Park (May 15) to benefit the Grand Strand Humane Society. Other special events taking place at the ballpark this summer include the Father's Day Fantasy Camp (June 21), Patriotic Jersey Auction (July 4) and the Belly Buster Eating Contest (July 23).
