
Pelicans Announce 2009 Appearances And Weekly Promos

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are happy to announce their special appearances and weekly promotions for the upcoming season. The Pelicans open the season with two exciting appearances during the opening homestand including a mascot act and a legendary NFL running back.
Kicking off the 2009 campaign are the fan-favorite Zooperstars on April 11, the first Saturday of the season, when the Pelicans take on the Wilmington Blue Rocks at 7:05. Six-time Pro Bowler, Jerome Bettis, headlines this year's list of special appearances. "The Bus" will stop by BB&T Coastal Field to appear on the Pelicans Gameday Show live on the field and throw out the first pitch before the April 14 game against the Frederick Keys. Former WWF wrestler George "The Animal" Steele will be in attendance on June 20 and a full cast of Star Wars characters will be at the park on August 1.

Many of the popular weekly promotions are returning to BB&T Coastal field, assuring fans something to look forward to at the ballpark every night of the week. Mondays are "Mascot Mondays" when all mascots from the area have an open invitation to come entertain the fans including mascots of area sports teams, local restaurants, or theme parks, all friends of the fur are welcome to attend. On "Team Tuesdays" the Pelicans celebrate the players heading from the beach to the big leagues. The Pelicans will give away a series of posters on each Tuesday home game with autograph nights likely to accompany the poster giveaways. "Wee Wednesdays" means fans have a chance to win a Nintendo Wii. Each Wednesday home game fans can play home run derby on the Wii and enter to win a Wii that will be raffled off during the last regular season Wednesday home game. "Thirsty Thursdays" are back in 2009. Fans can get dollar draft beers from 5:30 - 7:30, enjoy live entertainment and enter to win weekly Surge concert tickets during every Thursday home game. Fans can enjoy a great lineup of giveaways on "Free Stuff Friday" when the Pelicans will be giving away something at the gates every Friday night the Pelicans are in town. A wide array of entertainers will entertain those in attendance on "Show Time Saturdays." The Pelicans will welcome back some repeat performers and welcome in some fresh new acts for the new season. Sundays are once again pre-game catch on the field and post-game fireworks. These fan favorites are a great way to wrap up an entertaining weekend and the ballpark.
