
Pelicans add right-handed pitcher

The Pelicans announced today the signing of rookie right handed pitcher Jim Knytych.
The 6'2, 220 lb. Knytych joins Pensacola after pitching the 2005 college season with Butler University. A native of La Grange, Illinois, Knytych prepped at Lyons Township where he was named to Baseball America's "Top 20 in Illinois". He went on to sign with the Miami (OH) University Redhawks where in two years he appeared in 22 games with four starts, recording one win and one save.
Following his sophomore year, Knytych transferred to Butler where he made 16 starts in 30 games over a two year span. He went 4-8 and recorded 71 strikeouts during his career with the Bulldogs.
Kyntych will join the team in Fort Worth where the Pelicans are currently playing the Fort Worth Cats.
