Aviators open against Jackson with decisive win
Coastal Bend was on the road Wednesday night visiting Jackson, Mississippi. The Senators and Aviators began the four game series with an Aviator 8-2 victory.
Jose Luis Lopez improved his record to 4-3 on the season pitching seven innings allowing 2 runs off of 2 hits. After the Senators line up could not figure out Lopez through six innings, catcher Travis Nowell of all players, struck for the second Senator hit in the seventh. After walking Erick Mejias to begin the inning, Nowell took the first pitch from Lopez over the left centerfield wall.
The Aviators continue their hitting ways as Matt Mann split player of the game honors with Jose Luis Lopez. Mann went 2 for 4 with a walk. The centerfielder had three RBI's to his credit during the six run third.
The Aviators began the third with four consecutive singles by Rankin, Judkins, Hansley, and Maldonado. Carlos Figueroa drew a bases loaded walk forcing in the second run of the inning. Matt Mann proceeded to take the 3-1 offering from Senator pitcher, Rusty Camp, deep to right center clearing the bags with a stand up triple. Later that inning Mann crossed the plate himself on a pass ball during the at bat of third basemen Ben Tinius.
Brandon Pello pitched a scoreless eighth inning, before James Lira struck out the side to end the game in the ninth.
