Buffalo Bisons News Release

Former Buffalo Bisons pitcher and 2005 American League Cy Young Award winner RHP Bartolo Colon is scheduled to pitch for the Pawtucket Red Sox against the Bisons on Thursday, May 15 at Dunn Tire Park (1:05 p.m.). The game is the third game of a four-game series with the PawSox that begins Tuesday, May 13 at 7:05 p.m.

Colon is the only pitcher ever to throw a no-hitter in Dunn Tire Park history, pitching the Bisons to a 4-0 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs on June 20, 1997. Colon pitched in 19 games over three seasons with Buffalo (1996, 1997, 2000) with an 8-1 record and a 2.93ERA (76.2IP, 66H, 26R, 25ER, 31BB, 77K). After eight relief outings in the 2006 season, Colon went 7-1 with a 2.22ERA in 10 games with Buffalo in 1997 (he also made his M.L. debut with Cleveland in '97). In 2000, Colon won a rehab start with the Bisons.

This season, Colon is 1-0 with a 1.13ERA in two games with Pawtucket (8.0IP, 5H, R, ER, BB, 7K).

Colon, 34, has a 146-95 record and a 4.10ERA in his 11-year Major League career with the Indians, Expos, White Sox and Angels. A two-time All-Star, Colon won the American League Cy Young Award with the Angels in 2005 (21-8, 3.48ERA in 33 games), but has appeared in just 29 Major League games the last two years after rotator cuff surgery and persistent elbow problems.
