Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings in the final game of a four-game series from Frontier Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is looking for the series win after taking a 2-1 lead in the set with yesterday's 4-2 victory. The Bisons are 4-2 on their current seven-game roadtrip that began with a 2-1 series win in Syracuse. After tonight's game, Buffalo will return home for an eight-game homestand against Pawtucket and Lehigh Valley. On the mound today for the Bisons will be LHP Jeremy Sowers. The southpaw is coming off back-to-back victories. Rochester will counter with RHP Danny Graves.
GETTING SERIOUS: The Bisons can win their fourth series in the last five sets with a victory tonight. The Herd has won 10 of their last 14 games, including 7 of 10 against divisional opponents, to pull within three games of the .500 mark. Buffalo did not win any of their first six series (2 splits, 4 losses) to start the year 7-16.
SWEET AND SOWERS: LHP Jeremy Sowers has dominated in his last two starts. He allowed just one run in seven innings on May 1 to defeat Charlotte, 5-2. Last Tuesday, Sowers blanked the Chiefs on just three hits in seven innings for a second win. The southpaw has not allowed more than four runs in a start this season and his 2.21ERA currently ranks 6th in the International League. Sowers leads the Bisons with four quality starts and 36.2 innings of work.
PERFECT 10'S: INF Josh Barfield has put together the team's third 10-game hit streak of the season. He has hit in all 10 games this month with a .295 (13-44) average, three RBI and six runs scored. INF Danny Sandoval hit in 10 straight from April 6-17 and OF Jason Tyner had a 10-game stretch from April 28-May 10 that led to his promotion to Cleveland on Sunday.
STRONG START: INF Michael Aubrey has proven he can hit consistently at this level. Since his promotion from Double-A Akron on May 1, he has reached base safely in all eight games he's played. Aubrey has also hit in seven of the contests with a .364 (12-33) average, four doubles and five RBI. In his last five games, Aubrey is 10-22 for a .455 batting average.
