The Pawtucket Red Sox are one win away from their first Governors' Cup crown since 1984 after Wednesdays' 2-0 win over Charlotte at McCoy Stadium. Zach Stewart earned the win with a masterful effort. Stewart allowed 0 runs on 4 hits over six innings of work. Pedro Beato, Alex Wilson, and Jose de la Torre worked the final three innings to seal the win. In two games, PawSox pitchers have held the Knights to 2 runs over 18 innings. The Sox went 4-0 in two series at McCoy.
Catcher Dan Butler scored both Pawtucket runs. Butler homered to leftfield in the second inning, a solo shot. In the fifth, Butler scored on a double by Che-Hsuan Lin. Butler and Lin had 2 hits each.
The Sox can clinch the title with a win on Thursday in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Nelson Figueroa will square off with Matt Zaleski at 7:15 pm.
