
Pawlick's Four-Point Night Drives Ice Flyers in 6-2 Win

LAFAYETTE, La. - The Pensacola Ice Flyers (24-17-3) used a four-point game from captain Adam Pawlick to defeat the Louisiana IceGators (21-21-4) 6-2 on Wednesday night.
In his first game back with the Ice Flyers, defenseman Drew Baker opening the scoring with 3:33 remaining in the first. Adam Pawlick and Corey Banfield had the assists. Louisiana's Jeremy Boyer tied the game at one when he scored a power play goal with 2:08 remaining in the second period. Less than a minute later, the Ice Flyer regained the lead thanks to another goal by a defenseman as Jeremy Gates fired one home assisted by Joey Holka and Stephen Buco.
Josh Cousineau pushed Pensacola's lead to 3-1 with a power play goal assisted by Brandon Zurn and David Segal, with 12:01 remaining in the third. Yet another blue liner cashed in for the Ice Flyers when Tyler Amburgey scored his first goal since re-signing with the team to make it 4-1. Joe Caveney and Pawlick assisted on the goal that came with 8:54 remaining in the third.
Pawlick stretched the lead to 5-1 with just under five minutes left in regulation. Buco had the only assist. Exactly 30 seconds later, Caveney picked up his own goal with Pawlick and Banfield with the assists. Louisiana's Luke Sandler scored with 1:07 left in the third to make it 6-2 but it was too little too late for Louisiana to mount a comeback.
John McLean stopped 31 of the 33 shots that the IceGators threw his way to pick up the win. McLean was named the third star of the night with Pawlick being named the first star.
The Ice Flyers will be back in the Pensacola Bay Center this Saturday when they host the Mississippi RiverKings at 7:05 p.m. It will be Top Gun/Military Appreciation Night in the Hangar. The team will wear Top Gun themed specialty jerseys as the organization celebrates the 30th anniversary of the movie Top Gun.
