IRVINE, Calif. - The Orange County Blues FC are pleased to announce the return of veteran midfielder Pavle Popara for the 2016 USL season. A native of Kragujevac, Serbia, Popara joined the OC Blues FC in July of 2015 and made an immediate impact with the club as the team finished the regular season in 1st place of the USL Western Conference.

"Pavle made a big contribution to our team at the end of last season," said Head Coach and General Manager Oliver Wyss. "He brings many years of professional experience and we are excited to build on the success we had with him last year."

Popara made his first appearance with the OC Blues in July when he played all 90 minutes and recorded an assist in the club's 2-2 draw against the OKC Energy FC. Popara played in 11 of the team's final 12 regular season games, starting in 10 of those. Popara was a key addition to the midfield, scoring 3 times and adding 3 assists during the final two months of the season.

"I am very happy to return to Orange County for the 2016 season," said Popara. "I'm excited to get back to work and compete for the USL Championship."

At 29 years of age, Popara was one of the more experienced players on the 2015 roster. He began his professional playing career in Serbia in 2004 and has played for many top flight clubs across Eastern Europe in the past decade.
