Regina Pats News Release

Calgary, Alta. - The Regina Pats play the second game of this four game Alberta road swing tonight at 8:00 p.m. CST against the Calgary Hitmen inside the Scotiabank Saddledome.

It's the final meeting between the Pats and Hitmen today, as today's game will be nationally broadcasted on TSN and is sold out with over 19,000+ inside the Saddledome, which could potentially be the largest crowd in WHL history. The Pats are 4-2-1 over their last seven games, and they look to get back into the win column today.

The Pats are coming off a 6-5 overtime loss to the Red Deer Rebels last night for the clubs second straight loss. The Pats got a well-earned point though, leading the Rebels 5-4 over two periods of play, overcoming multiple two goal deficits in the first frame. Tanner Howe recorded a career-high four assists, Connor Bedard added three points (1G-2A) while Borya Valis scored twice and Alexander Suzdalev (1G-1A) chipped in with a multi-point game. Sam Oremba also scored for the Pats in the loss. Kelton Pyne made his first start since January 6, making 26 saves.

The final shots were 32-22 for the Rebels. The Pats finished 2-4 on the power play and 3-4 on their penalty kill. The Pats are now 1-1-1-0 against the Rebels in the season set, getting three of a possible six points against them.

On the other side, the Calgary Hitmen are coming off a 5-4 overtime loss to the Winnipeg ICE on Sunday. Oliver Tulk tallied three points (1G-2A), Sean Tschigerl scored twice, and Riley Fiddler-Schultz and Carter Yakemchuk each had two assists. Maxim Muranov scored the other Hitmen' goal and Brayden Peters made 37 saves in the loss. The final shots were 42-34 for Winnipeg. Calgary finished 3-5 on the power play and 4-5 on the penalty kill.

That's the Hitmen's second straight overtime defeat and third straight loss overall (0-2-1) where they have been outscored 11-to-6 over that three game span. They've also lost five of their last seven home games since January 1st (2-3-2-0).
