Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots defeated the Long Island Ducks 6-1 before 5,743 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday night.
The Ducks took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on an RBI single by Matt Padgett.
Josh Pressley led off the bottom of the frame with a solo home run (15) to tie up the game 1-1.
Somerset took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI single by Pressley and a two-run double by Jeff Nettles for a 4-1 lead.
The Patriots extended the lead with two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a double by Michael Hernandez that made the score 6-1.
Somerset starter Luke Sommer (3-4) got the win after allowing a run on three hits in six innings pitched. Valerio De Los Santos (2-3) suffered the loss, allowing six runs on 12 hits in 6.2 innings pitched.
The 2011 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday, September 4th when the Patriots take on the Long Island Ducks at 5:05 pm.
